Privacy Policy
Qala (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit www.qala.work, contact us, apply for opportunities, or complete screening through Qala. We process personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
What information we collect

We collect personal information you provide to us, such as your name and contact details, and (where relevant) information you submit as part of an application or screening process, which may include responses to questions and, if required for screening, video and/or audio submissions. When you use our website, we may also collect technical information such as device and browser data, IP address, and usage logs to operate and secure the site.

How we use information

We use personal information to operate our website and services, run screening processes, communicate with you, generate structured screening outputs, support our clients, improve Qala’s products and candidate experience, and protect our systems against misuse or security risks. We may use automated tools (including AI-assisted technology) to help standardise and summarise screening responses and generate structured insights to support recruitment processes.

Who we share information with

If you apply for a role or complete screening linked to an employer or client, we share relevant information and screening outputs with that employer/client for recruitment purposes. We also use third-party service providers to help us run Qala (for example, communications, hosting, storage, analytics, and security providers). These service providers may process personal information only on our instructions and are required to safeguard it. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect Qala, our users, and the public.

Cross-border processing

Some service providers may store or process personal information outside South Africa. Where information is transferred cross-border, we take steps to ensure it is protected in a manner consistent with POPIA.

Security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information. We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you (where legally permissible), object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on consent. You may also opt out of direct marketing at any time.
