Job Purpose 

The Admissions Specialist is responsible for managing the full admissions lifecycle across FETC and HET programmes. The role ensures compliance with relevant regulatory bodies, maintains audit-ready student records, and provides professional support to prospective students from enquiry through to registration. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Application & Admissions Management 

  • Process applications for FETC, occupational, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes. 

  • Assess applications against minimum entry criteria and programme-specific requirements. 

  • Verify academic transcripts, certificates, SAQA evaluations (where applicable), and supporting documentation. 

  • Issue conditional and final offer letters. 

  • Manage RPL, credit transfers, and deferments in line with policy. 

 

2. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight 

  • Ensure compliance with DHET requirements across FETC and HET programmes. 

  • Maintain adherence to CHE requirements (for HET qualifications). 

  • Ensure alignment with QCTO/SETA requirements where applicable (for FETC/occupational programmes). 

  • Maintain complete and audit-ready student files (electronic and/or hard copy). 

  • Support internal audits and external verification processes. 

  • Ensure compliance with POPIA and institutional governance policies. 

 

3. Student Advisory & Stakeholder Liaison 

  • Provide accurate guidance on NQF levels, entry requirements, programme duration, and articulation pathways. 

  • Assist prospective students with programme selection. 

  • Liaise with Academic Heads, Programme Coordinators, Marketing, and Finance regarding enrolment matters. 

  • Support registration and orientation processes during intake periods. 

 

4. Systems & Reporting 

  • Capture and maintain accurate student data on the Student Information System (SIS). 

  • Track application conversion rates and intake targets. 

  • Compile admissions and enrolment reports for management and regulatory reporting. 

  • Monitor student capacity per programme in line with accreditation limits.
